Interpersonal Communication Essay Example for Free
Interpersonal Communication Essay The capability of every individual create effective and efficient communicative mechanisms can help prevent the further escalation of a conflict. Each action, movement, speech is important in establishing such idea. Thus, proper facilitation of interpersonal communication can bridge the gap between two parties and help create possibilities for cooperation. Analyzing the problem critically, there are certain communicative lapses present between the parents and the owner of the day care. These lapses tend to create different perceptions and ideas that in the end result into conflict among members of the group. Another issue that can be argued revolves around the responsibility of the owner of the daycare. It has been elaborated that there are only certain parameters of care that the organization has to offer which is mandated by the handbook of DHA. These contending of ideas of how responsibility of care is administered also bring about struggles and conflict that can further impede and deteriorate the process of interpersonal communication. With these, solutions must be created to administer proper changes and facilitate communication. One important aspect to consider is to be sensitive to the situation and cultural background of the individuals. ââ¬Å"A stereotype, a fixed impression about a group, may influence your perceptions of individual members; you may see individuals only as members of the group instead of as unique individuals. â⬠(DeVito, ââ¬ËChapter 4ââ¬â¢, p. 1) The next thing to consider is the importance of creating effective listening skills both to individuals and groups. However, there are many factors that affect the way people listen and comprehend things. ââ¬Å"Members of different cultures vary on a number of communication dimensions that influence listening: speech and language, nonverbal behavioral differences, and preferences for direct and indirect styles of communication. â⬠(DeVito, ââ¬ËChapter 5ââ¬â¢, p. 1) In addition, individuals must be gender sensitive when it comes to listening. ââ¬Å"Men and women may listen differently; generally, women give more specific listening cues to show theyre listening than do men. â⬠(DeVito, ââ¬ËChapter 5ââ¬â¢, p. 1) Thus, different strategies must be created to facilitate better avenues for listening. The next possible solution can be characterized how people perceive and interpret communication by means of verbal and non-verbal messages. The way to creating effective interpersonal communication is the advancing and merging of both listener and speaker. ââ¬Å"Meaning is more than words and gestures; meaning includes what speaker and listener brings to interpersonal interaction. â⬠(DeVito, ââ¬ËChapter 6ââ¬â¢, p. ) With this, words, gestures and other meanings given are important in establishing interpersonal communication. ââ¬Å"Meanings are context-based; the context heavily influences the meanings that words and gestures are given. â⬠(DeVito, ââ¬ËChapter 6ââ¬â¢, p. 1) Thus, these ideas prove to be a main catalyst in achieving interpersonal communication. The last process in trying to resolve this conflict is the communication process itself. The conversation between the listener and speaker plus the mechanisms that were used can be a vital tool in shaping the outcome of interpersonal communication. ââ¬Å"Maintaining conversations depends on the principle of cooperation; the maxims of quantity, quality, relation, and manner; the principle of dialogue; and the principle of turn taking. â⬠(DeVito, ââ¬ËChapter 9ââ¬â¢, p. 1) With mechanisms in place, conversation may be able to bridge the communication gap brought about by conflict. ââ¬Å"Preventing conversational problems may be aided by the disclaimer, a statement that helps to ensure that your message will be understood and will not reflect negatively on the speaker. â⬠(DeVito, ââ¬ËChapter 9ââ¬â¢, p. 1) In the end, giving solutions to the problem of communication revolves around the capability of an individual to harness and foster efficient and effective mechanisms that will create an environment of understanding, collaboration and sensitivity among the group/s. Impact of Innovation on Organisations
Impact of Innovation on Organisations Throughout this report, it will be explained, the different approaches organizations can take to encourage innovation and what factors will influence on organizations to achieve business success or not. The factors will be furthermore explained with the real life examples and it will illustrate the diversity of experience among organisations. As examples, the present leader in consumer electronic industry the ââ¬Å"Samsung Corporationâ⬠and the ex-leader of mobile phone industry ââ¬Å"Nokia Corporationâ⬠are considered here. What is innovation? Innovation is an important concept in modern strategic management since it has a pervasive influence on the performances of the organisation. It also signifies how well the organisation adapts according to new market trends and the way it responds to its market rivals with superior innovations. Furthermore innovation can be defined as Organisational innovation means the implementation of a new organisational method in the undertakingââ¬â¢s business practices, workplace organisation or external relations. Changes in business practices, workplace organisation or external relations that are based on organisational methods already in use in the undertaking, changes in management strategy, mergers and acquisitions, ceasing to use a process, simple capital replacement or extension, changes resulting purely from changes in factor prices, customisation, regular seasonal and other cyclical changes, trading of new or significantly improved products are not considered innovations. (Official Journal of the European Union 2006) According to Paul Trott, the definition of innovation can be expressed as follows. (Trott 2005) Influences of Innovation on organizations Now there are few additional questions which arise. Why does an organisation/business need to be innovative? Is it compulsory? Is it beneficial to the society and the organisation itself? ââ¬Å"Yesâ⬠is the answer for all those questions and, same as other major factors the priority should be given to innovation too otherwise organisations donââ¬â¢t survive in the field. Innovation can be a facilitator for the development and success of any organisation. By being innovative in an organisation it does not imply success. Innovation could mean changing the business model and adapting to changes according to the environment to provide better products or services. Types of Innovation In ââ¬ËInnovation Management and New Product Developmentââ¬â¢ book Paul Trott has stated there are seven different types of innovations could be implemented in an organisation. (Trott 2005) Product Innovation Process innovation Organisational Innovation Management Innovation Production Innovation Commercial/Marketing Innovation Service Innovation Samsungââ¬â¢s Innovative Approach As the first example, Samsungââ¬â¢s successful and strong approach of innovation is explained here. Since the beginning of the Samsung, the innovation has been core factor of its success. The history of Samsung goes back to when Byung-Chull Lee started a small business in Daegu called ââ¬ËSamsungââ¬â¢ in 1st of March 1938. It was primarily focused on exporting dried fish, fruits and vegetables to China. From its beginning as a small trading company, Samsung has developed to a worldââ¬â¢s largest corporation with industries that including semiconductors, advance technology, building and plant construction, fashion, petrochemical, hotels, medicine, finance and more. Its inventions and discoveries breakthrough products have allowed them to be a forerunner in these fields, continuously pushing the industries forward. (Samsung 2015) As a global company Samsung has approximately 490, 000 employees which more than Apple, Google and Microsoft combined. Samsung also operates in more than 80 countries worldwide. Samsungââ¬â¢s turnover in 2013 is à ¢Ã¢â¬Å¡Ã ©228.692 trillion according to the Samsung Corporationââ¬â¢s Financial Statements. (Samsung Sustainability Report 2013) According to Paul Trottââ¬â¢s seven types of innovations Samsungââ¬â¢s innovative approach has developed over the time can be described as follows. Product innovation: How advanced it is technologically either in terms of its production, or its productive processes? Samsung was founded 1938 as a small business which mainly targeted on fish and vegetable exporting. After seven decades it became the world largest consumer electronics manufacturer. Samsung has developed to a worldââ¬â¢s largest corporation with industries that including semiconductors, advance technology, building and plant construction, fashion, petrochemical, hotels, medicine, finance and more. Samsung has manufacturing and assembly plants over 80 countries around the world. Samsung has a good reputation in consumer electronic products and recently became famous for its iconic designs of curved displays (4K UHD Curved TVs and Galaxy S6 Edge). Samsungââ¬â¢s new ââ¬Å"Foundry Technological Development Centreâ⬠is focused on highly advanced technology development such as microchips, memory cards, solid state drives etc. and its manufacturing plants have excellent manufacturing ability to supply products to the rapidly expanding IT market. Figure 1: Foundry Technology Development Centre and Semiconductor RD Centre (Source: www.samsung.com) Organisational innovation: (a new division, new internal communication system, new accounting procedures) Samsung has established an educational system for the whole organisation that covers on all aspects of the environment including its facilities and products. It also offers various educational opportunities to its employees, such as legal education, basic environmental awareness and job-specific education to support and make stronger the culture of Samsung. (Samsung 2015) At the end of December, 2014, the total number of shares outstanding of Samsung Corporation is 170,132,764.The numbers of preferred shares outstanding and common shares outstanding are 22,833,427 (13.4%), 147,299,337 (86.6%) and respectively. (Samsung 2014) Production Innovation: (Quality circles, JIT- Just-in-Time Manufacturing, MRPII Manufacturing Resource Planning II) Samsung follows a smart manufacturing procedure which is tried and tested through successful project implementation. Smart Manufacturing delivers end to end total services, including integrated construction based on manufacturing core values, systematic consulting on business innovation and continuous operation services which led Samsung to its success. (Samsung SDSC Europe 2015) Figure 2: Smart Manufacturing Process of Samsung (Source: http://www.sdse-samsung.com) Process innovation: (development of a new manufacturing or administrative process) Behind the current successfulness of Samsung, there is a big turning point which is adapting Android operating system for smartphones. It was the main reason of Samsung to become the world largest smartphone manufacturer. Management Innovation: (Managers and its strategic level decision takers have required experience to draw upon) Throughout 2012, Samsung Corporation continued to improve its practice of sustainable management with responsible corporate governance. Additionally, to agree with national and international law and regulations, Samsung also adapted a set of ethical standards and values that guide its work procedures and decision making processes. Through a corporate governance structure that focuses on board of director engagement, Samsung works to ensure responsible, transparent and sustainable business management across all operations. (Samsung Sustainability Report 2013) Dr. Oh-Hyun Kwon is the current vice chairman and CEO of Samsung. He joined to Samsung in 1985 and he has done a vital role inside Samsung Corporation which led to the company to rapid development in the semiconductor industry. Samsung is administrated by an independent board of directors who are devoted to serving Samsungs key stakeholders with transparency and integrity. Mr. Choi has been with Samsung for more than 30 years, and he is the visionary leader of oversees Samsungs North American companies. (Samsung 2015) Service Innovation: (Internet-based financial services, ICT servicesetc.) The 21st century is a convergence era during which the offerings and services of divergent industries and technologies are fused and developed. Specially, Samsung foresees that a diverse and smart convergence ââ¬Å"Intelligent Convergence will flourish due to rapid innovation in ICT service technologies. The Samsung SDS, in sync with the intelligent convergence era, offers various solutions that support their customersââ¬â¢ business successes and improve an individuals quality of life by leveraging accumulated ICT service capabilities. Figure 3: Core values of Samsungs Service innovation (Source: www.sdse-samsung.com) Commercial/Marketing Innovation: (New financing, sales approachâ⬠¦etc.) Throughout past few years Samsung has gained significant amount of reputation and attained highest customer satisfaction from smart phone users than other competitors due to its innovativeness. Furthermore, Fortune Magazine has analysed Samsungââ¬â¢s corporate culture by utilizing the confidence index and listed it under ââ¬Å"The 100 Best Companies to Work Forâ⬠since 1998. Samsung has spent around $14 billion (Which is more than Icelands GDP) on marketing and promotion of its products and services in 2013, which is the biggest (as a percentage of its total revenue) advertising budget of any company ever. (Gilbert 2013) Also Samsung has been the Chelseaââ¬â¢s official shirt sponsor since 2005, Africa Cup of Nations 2010 in Angola and Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in 2012. (Daryl 2010) Moreover Samsungââ¬â¢s brand name value is $35 billion and itââ¬â¢s in the 8th place of worldââ¬â¢s most valuable brands list. Week Approaches of Samsung The following example shows, how strong cultures of other competitors (Apple and Google) are affected on Samsungââ¬â¢s weak approach to a new operation system. Samsung launched its first smartphone operating system called ââ¬ËBadaââ¬â¢, which was fully developed by Samsung in 2009. Samsung officially launched it in late 2010, under the ââ¬ËWaveââ¬â¢ brand name which is similar to their Android-powered devices which are branded under the ââ¬Å"Galaxyâ⬠name. Samsungs this announcement of new Bada OS was a confusing situation for to some people, but Samsung wanted market it under the slogan of ââ¬Å"smartphones for everyoneâ⬠. At the beginning, Bada OS achieved huge success and at that time it was above the market share of Windows-Phone OS. Samsung helped to turning considerable amount of mobile users into smartphone owners, and Bada seems to be a big part of that. But after few years, due to its lack of 3rd party application support like Whatsapp, Facebook, Skypeâ⬠¦ etc. people began to question that, does this Bada OS really a smartphone operating system? In 2012, most of third party developers of Bada, left it due to the dramatic decrement of consumers. In late 2012, Samsung announced that they are abandoning Bada OS and they redirected the project to a new operating system called ââ¬ËTizenââ¬â¢ with collaboration of Intel Corporation. Nokiaââ¬â¢s Innovative Approach Nokiaââ¬â¢s history goes back to 1865, when Fredrik Idestam started his first wood pulp mill at the place called Tammerkoski in South-western Finland. After few years, he opened his second mill on the banks of the ââ¬ËNokianvirta Riverââ¬â¢ which inspired the name of his company. After decades of development, In 1967, Nokia took its current form as Nokia Corporation as a result of the merging Nokia AB, Finnish Rubber Works which is a manufacturer of tires, rubber boots, and other rubber products founded in 1898, and Finnish Cable Works Ltd, a manufacturer of power and telephone cables founded in 1912. This new Nokia Corporation had five business fields which are rubber, power generation cable, forestry and electronics. (Nokia 2015) Today, Nokia is mainly focusing on three strong businesses which are Nokia Networks (network infrastructure business) Nokia HERE (location intelligence business) and Nokia Technologies (technology development and intellectual property rights activities). From these businesses, Nokia has around 57,000 employees around the world. Nokia is also a major investor in resource and development, with investment through those three business fields more than EUR 2.5 billion in 2013. (Nokia Corporation 2015) Until 2011, Nokia also was a major participant in the mobile devices manufacturing field. But Nokia refused to adapt Google Android operating system to their devices and since then Nokia began to losing its market share slowly. Finally Nokia announced an agreement with Microsoft in September 2013, whereby it would sell substantially all of its Devices Services business to Microsoft and the transaction was completed on April 25, 2014. (Nokia Corporation 2015) Turning point of Nokia Nokia has been a pioneer in the smartphone market and they introduced smartphone trend to the consumers with its own Symbian Series 60 devices in 2002. For the next five-six years, Symbian phones kept the leadership position in the smartphone market. But in 2007, Apple announced iPhone with full touchscreen and application based operating system which is completely new experience to mobile phone users. With that great innovation, Apple Corporation gave a new definition to a smartphone and how it should be. Nokia failed to respond this new iPhone with their innovation and they preferred to stick with their outdated mobile phone operating system and mobile phone designs. As the years passed, more consumers shifted to iPhone and the Symbian mobile platform aged, when compared to iOS and, later Android operating system. At the same time, the smartphones became the trend and more and more mobile phone users decided to use those Android and Apple smartphones instead of ââ¬Å"featureâ⬠phones which only could calling, texting and WAP browsing. Wayne Lam who is a senior analyst at HIS has stated ââ¬Å"In hindsight, Nokia should have responded to the iPhone more quickly. They didnââ¬â¢t make the leap of faith onto Windows Phone until 2011. Now they are suffering from their slow response.â⬠On the other hand, Samsung has progressed quickly into the smartphone market and it had the advantage of working from the beginning. However Nokia had a relatively successful smartphone market and platform therefore Nokia didnââ¬â¢t want to give up the exiting market share. (Chang 2012) Conclusion To sum up, Samsung is one of the top-performing businesses in present, and they have sustained high performances and experiences over many decades, and those can be recognised as their strategic methods that involve contribution in global associations, building the links between the top research centres and the industries with vendors. 99% of strategies of Samsung were successful compared to other rivals. Samsung is fully committed in inventing the technologies of future and results-oriented innovations which uplift the existing technologies. After the tragic downfall of Nokia, it is now slowly rising with the acquisition of Microsoft. The current progress of Nokia has been slow, but steady. Nokia finally overtook Motorola in market share in the third quarter of 2013 In the US and became the fourth-largest smartphone vendor In the US. Finally, these both companies went through a stage when their products and service werenââ¬â¢t successful how ever after new adaptations and modifications of strategies and innovations Samsung and Nokia were able to reach the path of success. Wide Variety Of Hawaiian Dishes Cultural Studies Essay
Wide Variety Of Hawaiian Dishes Cultural Studies Essay In the nineteenth century the Americans established pineapple and sugar cane plantations. As the industries expanded immigrant workers from many different places such as Portugal, Philippines, China, Japan, and Korea arrived in Hawaii. They influenced many parts of Hawaiian cuisine. They brought with them different cooking styles, and food preparation techniques. The Portuguese brought pork dishes and the use of tomatoes and chili peppers when preparing meals. The Filipinos brought with them broiled dishes, beans, adobo dishes, and peas. The Chinese brought stir fry. The Japanese brought sashimi, noodle soups, and shrimp tempura. The Koreans brought with them dishes called kimchi, marinated meats, dishes with sweet garlic sauce, and mixed rice with seasoned vegetables also known as bibimbab. The Vietnamese brought the use of lemon grass when cooking to Hawaii. Puerto Ricans brought heavy soups and casseroles with them to Hawaii. The Samoans brought fruit based poi with them to Hawaii . Some popular restaurants in Hawaii are Sam Choys, Alan Wongs Restaurant, the Diamond Head Grill, La Mer, and Tropica. Sam Choy is a Hawaiian of Chinese descent. Sam Choy is famous for being one of the 12 chefs who established the Hawaiian Regional Cuisine movement. Some of Choys famous dishes are fried tofu, tomato poke, stone crab claws, and the pake paella. Another popular restaurant in Hawaii is Alan Wongs Restaurant. Alan Wong is considered as one of the three kings of Hawaiian Regional Cuisine, and is one of the top chefs in Hawaii. Alan Wongs Restaurant in Honolulu, is among the top ten restaurants in the state.Some of their well-known dishes are seafood paella, ginger crusted onaga, kalua pig, and tomato soup and sandwiches. The Diamond Head Grill at the Honolulu hotel also offers quality Hawaiian cooking techniques. La Mers menu features Neo ÃÆ'à ¯Ã ¿Ã ½ classic French cuisine. In Hawaii there are a few food festivals. Aside from food, the highlight of Hawaiian food festivals includes the hula, musical entertainment, games, and other cultural performances. Some of the Hawaiian food festivals are Taste of Wailea, Taste of Oahu, Kapalua Food and Wine Festival. The festival of Taste of Wailea is a feast. You are able to taste some dishes prepared by top chefs in Wailea, and taste some of the best wines in the world. The festival of Taste of Oahul is also a feast. At the festival of taste of Oahul you can try some of Hawaiis dishes from over twenty five of Hawaiis best establishments that are known for their signature recipes. You can also enjoy the festivals wine tasting. The Kapalua Food and Wine festival is a very famous celebration in Maui. It is a four day long celebration. Over the years, this four-day long event has been known to feature several top chefs. Aside from wine tasting sessions and seminars, this event also highlights cooking demonstrations. If you want to try some of Hawaiis traditional dishes you should go to a luau. All the islands of Hawaii celebrate a luau. During a luau, Hawaiis traditional dishes such as poi, Kalua pig, coconut, and seafood dishes are served. King Kamameha 11 started the tradition of a luau during the 1800s. This event was held as a symbol that certain religious taboos previously practiced have ended. A luau is the highlight of many important Hawaiian events including weddings, birthdays, and graduations. Since then, the term has been used in place of party, even in other countries. Today Hawaiians are still celebrating luaus today. There are some popular dishes you must sample when in Hawaii. One of these dishes is the Kalua pig. The Kalua pig is seasoned with salt then wrapped in banana leaves and then steaming it inside a ground broiler, or imu. Another popular dish is Haupia. Haupia is a gelatin like desert. Haupia is made using a thickened coconut milk. Another popular and one of the oldest recipes is a seafood dish called Luau. Luau is prepared with a mixture of coconut milk and taro leaves. Another dish you should try while in Hawaii is the Lomi salmon. The Lomi salmon is made by mixing together tomatoes, peppers, and onions with salted salmon. Tuna is also a very popular item in Hawaii. There are many varieties of tuna. The popular varieties are the Ahi, the yellow fin tuna, the Tombo, the Albacore tuna, the Aku, and the Skipjack. There is also what they call the poke, which is usually served as an appetizer in Hawaiian cuisine. Poke is a fish salad. Poke in Hawaiian means section, to slice, or cut. Poke is a dish that exhibits the heavy influence of Japanese cuisine. Another Japanese-inspired cuisine is the Spam musubi, which is a variant of a Japanese rice ball with spam wrapped in seaweed. Back in the days, the first fine dining restaurants that were established in Hawaii were mostly for the wealthy. The dishes served in the restaurants were similar to those served in Europe. Some of the items on those menus were mullet, chicken with tomatoes, cabinet pudding, and spring lamb. Back in august of nineteen ninety one a dozen chefs of Hawaii would get together and organize a movement to create a cuisine that would characterize the uniqueness of Hawaii, which marked the birth of the Hawaiian Regional Cuisine. Instead of using foreign ingredients the chefs wanted to create dishes using ingredients grown locally. These chefs wanted to make a cuisine that people visiting would find a taste of Hawaii. The Hawaiian cuisine is made up of much cuisine of many different cultures, but uses the ingredients found locally. Some of the Hawaiian dishes that were a result of the chefs desires to create a unique Hawaiian cuisine were Waimanalo salad greens, Puna goat cheese, and Kahuku pra wns. Hawaii has many crops and other edible plants, and the food served to the early settlers in Hawaii was mainly fruits and root crops. Some locally grown items are taro, sweet potatoes, yams, allspice, banana passion fruit, cinnamon, coffee, guava, java plum, macadamia nut, and mango. In the late nineteenth century, American settlers established pineapple and sugar cane plantations. As the plantations expanded, immigrant workers from around the world arrived in Hawaii. Some of the immigrant workers came from Portugal, Philippines, China, Japan, and Korea. When this happened it really influenced the Hawaiian cuisine. They brought with them different cooking styles, and food preparation techniques. Hawaii is a wonderful place with a great cuisine and someday I would like visit and taste their many different dishes. I think that it is so interesting on how they created their cuisine.

Westerns :: essays research papers
Westerns The settlement of the west has prompted storys which have captivated the public throughout this century. More than any other historic event it has been written about in books, magazines and comic books. Screen writers are no exception, it has been the most popular subject of motion pictures from their inception. It's nearness in history is one of the most important reasons for it's success. Soon after the west's settlement, motion pictures became popular. Parents and grandparents were telling stories that were made even more real by the events seen on the big screen. A person could much more easily imagine events occuring within the past 50 years or so as compared to 150 years with the revolution. This nearness in history gave stories of the west a realistic appeal for the masses. With the turn of the century came the industrial revolution. At this time the average person's life changed radically. People now became "factory workers," clocking in and leaving their brains at the door. The glamour offered by these stories gave the majority of people a short escape from the everyday "grind." People were able to ride off into the sunset for a few hours becoming a rugged individual who makes a difference as opposed to the faceless body that may turn one screw hour after hour. Storylines variety was endless for the west's story tellers. Any story could be written and placed as a western. The love interest, hated villian and old enemy all fit in a western. If a writer did not want to take the time to develop an enemy, one was readily available in the native americans. The wests stories can be varied by switching points of view as

The Bill of Rights Essay -- American History
Bill of Rights We live in the 21st century, where most Americans mind their own business but take for granted our God given rights. Not only God given rights but also those established by our founding forefathers. This paper will illustrate and depict the importance of the original problems faced when adopting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It will discuss the importance of the first amendment, the due process of the 4th, 5th, 6th, and the 8th amendments. Last but not least the importance of what is known as the ââ¬Å"second Bill of Rightsâ⬠(14th amendment). What problems with the original document motivated the adoption of the Bill of Rights? Many felt the Constitution was strongly focused on the power and authority the central government would have over the states and the people. Such supporter was Thomas Jefferson, who said, ââ¬Å"bill of rights is what the people are entitled to against every government on the earth, general or particular, and what no just government should refuse.â⬠Thomas Jefferson December 20, 1787 (American Civil Liberties Union [ACLU], 2002). The Constitution was set up with a system of checks and balances between the three branches of government. For its time it was remarkable but was flawed in expressing what it could do, but nowhere did it say what it could not. This was the great argument by the Anti-Federalist. Second, the Anti-Federalist would only support the Constitution if Congress was to include the proposed Bill of Rights. This would ensure the unalienable rights would be protected. Federalist No.84 says. ââ¬Å"In the course of the foregoing review of the Constitution, I have taken notice of, and endeavored to answer most of the objections which have appeared against it. There, however, remai... ...brief-history Coates, R. E. (1995-99). Freedom of the Press . Leading Edge :: essays research papers fc
The Leading Edge Management in organizations today are trying to capture both quality and productivity (bottom line results) from their employees, and are spending millions of dollars in time, capital, and human resources. However, without the proper paradigm shift in leadership roles, which must include a new appreciation on the importance of principled centered leadership that recognizes that people are the highest value in any organization, the investment no matter how great will not accomplish their goals. Managers today have to become more effective in leading and managing their employees. They have to start with a new mind set, change their frame of reference, change how they see the world, how they think about people, and how they view management and leadership. This will bring about quantum improvements in their organization. (Covey) Today's authoritarian style puts managers at a higher level of importance than that of his employees, he makes the decision, gives the commands, and workers conf orm and cooperate, perform and contribute as requested to receive the rewards of pay and other benefits. When managers accept that the "old way" of doing things is not fundamentally the right way, and they shift to a new style that puts principle-centered leadership first, a unique relationship will develop. They will see that people have more creative energy, resourcefulness, and initiative to contribute when they feel valued and their accomplishments are valued. When managers begin to work with the whole person and embrace principles of fairness and kindness and make better use of their talents, than people have a sense of doing something that matters, something with meaning. (Covey) In my organization we are fast paced and deadline driven, each of us has to train and depend on our employees decision making process. I know which of my employees can handle which tasks and set goals for each according to their abilities. I usually get them together in a group to discuss wh at our immediate objectives are. I encourage input from every level, including our part time employees, so everyone feels included and when we achieve goals, everyone wins. We monitor our progress, and meet frequently if a problem arises, and are very quick to praise each other when we have moved closer to our goals. I feel including everyone in this process gives everyone a sense of ownership in the organization. My employees want to contribute, they take great pride in helping in the decision making process, their sense of meaning and worth are just as great a reward as any paycheck could be.

Raman Effect
Raman Effect : Raman scatteringà or theà Raman effectà (à /? r m? n/) is theà inelastic scatteringà of aà photon. It was discovered byà Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Ramanà andà Kariamanickam Srinivasa Krishnanà in liquids,[1]à and byà Grigory Landsbergà andà Leonid Mandelstamà in crystals. [2][3] Whenà lightà isà scatteredà from anà atomà orà molecule, mostà photonsà areà elastically scatteredà (Rayleigh scattering), such that the scattered photons have the same energy (frequency) andà wavelengthà as the incident photons.However, a small fraction of the scattered light (approximately 1 in 10 million photons) is scattered by an excitation, with the scattered photons having a frequency different from, and usually lower than, the frequency of the incident photons. [4]à In a gas, Raman scattering can occur with a change in vibrational or rotational energy of a molecule (seeà energy level). Chemists are concerned primarily with t he vibrational Raman effec Hargobind Khorana : à Indian-bornAmericanà biochemist who shared theà Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicineà in 1968 withà Marshall W.Nirenbergà andRobert W. Holleyà for research that helped to show how theà nucleotidesà inà nucleic acids, which carry theà genetic codeà of the cell, control the cellââ¬â¢s synthesis of proteins. Subramanian Chandrasekhar: was anà Indianà astrophysicistà who, withà William A. Fowler, won the 1983Nobel Prize for Physicsà for key discoveries that led to the currently accepted theory on the later evolutionary stages of massive stars. [3][4]à Chandrasekhar was the nephew ofà Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, who won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930.J. C Bose : was aà Bengalià polymath: aà physicist,à biologist,à botanist,à archaeologist, as well as an early writer ofà science fiction. [5]à He pioneered the investigation ofà radioà andà microwaveà optics, made ve ry significant contributions toà plant science, and laid the foundations ofà experimentalà scienceà in theà Indian subcontinent. [6]à IEEEà named him one of theà fathersà ofà radioà science. [7]à He is also considered the father ofà Bengali science fiction. He was the first person from theà Indian subcontinentà to receive aà US patent, in 1904.
